Masjid Baitusy Syakur
West Java, Indonesia / 2021

Located in a rural area, a small village in Ciparay, the mosque is built on the paddy land. Trying to be humble with the neighborhood, we tried to make a design who has sensibility to adapt with the context. The form of the mosque, especially the roof, was inspired by the condition of buildings in that village. This is something unusual because of the common typology of mosque building in Indonesia nowadays, most of them using a dome instead of a sloping roof like we used. Other than that, we utilized the light element on the landscape to make something poetic and let people who pray in the mosque feel calm.
