The Stone

This project was inspired by the architectural vernacular buildings found in the mountainous region of Portugal. The typology of rural buildings in mountainous areas is to utilize existing local materials, namely granite stone. This material has been used by the people of the mountains in Portugal for a long time because it is easy to obtain and very durable in facing the local weather and climate.
